✒️MY TAKE:
The character sketch of Maria Della Notte consumed me with her innocent questions in a complicated life situation. For any child, parents are the world that ensconces and protects the life that they gave birth to. Maria, at a tender age of ten, was enveloped in her uncertainties regarding her surrogate mother, her origin and most importantly, why would she have a surrogate mother in the first place!
🌌This book had me captivated from the first chapter as we are introduced into life of the character. I would take a moment here to admire the author’s ability to capture the mind-space of the readers with emotional depth and mellifluous prose. I felt as if I am part of Maria's journey, empathizing with her during her challenges and rejoicing in her triumphs.
🌌I liked the narrative quality which is hard-hitting, touching the right chords in the heart. I liked the way the author strung together a series of events revolving around Maria, drawing us readers into her world of emotional turmoil and uncertainty.
🌌The essence of the storyline came out beautifully in the backdrop of of war-zone and poverty stricken world which encompassed the characters and brought out their real struggles. The author did a commendable job in stitching together a character that can be equally relatable emotionally as well as distinctive in terms of strength of personality and life struggles. I would like to highly recommend The Rock in Our Story by JR Giuliano to any reader who enjoys getting immersed in the character sketches and soaks in their emotions.
