📘AUTHOR: Ruchita Mishra
📘GENRE: Contemporary Love Story

📝RATING:
⚡️Storyline: 4/5
⚡️Literature: 4/5

📖PLOT:

When Ikadashi Kumar a.k.a Ika came face to face with her company head, Fredrick Heisenberg, sparks flew and the emotional connection was unmissable.

This intense love came at a time when Ika was going through a verbally abusive marriage.

Fredrick found his soulmate in Ika with whom he could share his terrible past.

✒️MY TAKE:

The storyline of Her One True Love by Ruchita Misra felt like a warm blanket which enveloped me in its myriad journey of unrequited love, passionate relationships, and the pain of loveless marriage spanning across two generations.

📚I was entranced by Ika's character which is very relatable as a careeristic woman who is also a mother. When we are young and full of energy for our future, we promise to treat ourselves well and not allow anybody to disrespect us, let alone our partner. We often forget this promise once we get married and become a mother. We start tolerating the verbal abuse for the 'sake of our child' and the 'sake of our family harmony'.

📚I felt extremely liberating as a reader when Ika took a stand for herself to end her abusive marriage. Ika's character felt like a mirror to the woman-kind. A reminder to our kind not to accept any form of disrespect and open our arms to true love.

💕I enjoyed Fredrick and Ika's sizzling chemistry which transcended beyond physical attraction and was stronger due to their emotional connection. Fredrick became an instant green flag for me because of the way he treated Ika's son, Veer. He became a good father-figure for Veer, which even his own father, Vivaan, failed to do so. I loved how Fredrick started appreciating the warmth and love of Indian culture, thanks to Ika's vivaciousness and joviality towards introducing Fredrick to her family events.

I enjoyed her abstract love towards Fredrick and felt her despair in her marriage. I derived strength from her mother, Himani, who refused to let her daughter continue in an abusive marriage and gave her the courage to choose her one true love, something that Himani did not do when she was young. Himani ensured that her daughter, Ika, did not repeat the same mistake that she did when she let go of the love of her life and chose to remain in a loveless marriage.

💕Her One True Love by Ruchita Misra has been an enrapturing read for me where I felt myself sink into the whirlpool of Ika's life and wanted to become a part of her journey. Kudos to the author for crafting a beautiful story which strummed the chords of my heart.
