Book Review - I Write Since You Exist by Suraj Prakash Behera
BOOK: I Write Since You Exist
AUTHOR: Suraj Prakash Behera
GENRE: Poetry & Short Stories
RATING: 4/5
MY TAKE:
I Write Since You Exist is an ode to the tenacity of human soul which can brave the rough waters of emotional fluctuations and survive on the thread of hope. The poems penned down by the author felt like a tribute and an acknowledgement to each sentiment which captures the human mind. Some of the poems like ‘Love’s Enchantment Under the Moon’ and ‘A Dance of Radiance’ can melt the hearts of the romantic readers to feel a sense of longing and intimacy.
The author also delved into various aspects pertaining to motherhood, corporate lifestyle, and the power of human spirit which is very hard to break. I was pleasantly surprised by the poetic tribute paid by the author to the theme of Game of Thrones which has a dedicated section. It was such a delight to immerse myself in the poem singing paeans of Arya Stark.
“Life is an application, an application that you nourish and enhance from a small line of code”
This line from the poem, ‘Life’s Binary Thread’, captured the beauty and fragility of our life. God and our parents are the coders, and we are a combination of binary numbers 0 and 1 signifying that black and white aspect of our life. We start as a one-line code and as we grow up so does the complexity and utility of the code.
One of my favourite sections were the short stories in the form of chats which gave a sense as if I am peaking into the personal and intimate thoughts of the author. The chats spanned across topics on best friends having conversations to mothers worrying about the nitty-gritties of their child's life and asking for day-to-day updates.
Overall, it was delight reading the book, I Write Since You Exist, as it encompasses the 360-degree view of human soul and a fresh take on the concept of life. It is well-written with a lot of hard-hitting one-liners which can give you a different perspective for your thoughts.
