📖PLOT:

Jim Dastoor, a renowned scientist, has been kidnapped from Seattle for a scientific breakthrough that he has achieved through a concoction called Hamza Dura.

Turns out that this Hamza Dura is a key element of the Zoroastrian legacy that gets passed on to the 'rebel' family member of the Dastoor clan which is how Jim inherited it.

There are powerful organizations who are after the Hamza Dura, either to take it back to its rightful ethnic place or to monopolize the pharmaceutical industry.


✒VERDICT:

🥇Pros:

1) Trust Ashwin Sanghi to take you on a fascinating historical trip while creating a literary treat.
The Magicians of Mazda takes the readers centuries back when the flourishing and rich Persian community was persecuted due to Islamic invasion which made them flee and land on the Indian shores. 

This book proved to be a historical treasure which elucidates the legacy of Zoroastrianism about which not many people have a thorough idea. I am always left impressed by the author's attention to detail together with presenting the massive historical data in a palatable manner.

2) I loved how the author described the family tree of the Dastoor clan which gave us the context of the storyline regarding the importance of Jim Dastoor and the fascination with Hamza Dura which is more like the protagonist of the story. 

3) Each and every character was built with precision and they individually added a unique flavour to the storyline. Apart from the main characters, I was amazed by the way the author has managed to ensure that the characters with lesser prominence, play a huge role to piece together the jigsaw puzzle. As a reader I felt that these small characters gave unexpected twists and turns which I didn't see it coming.

👎Cons:

Though I enjoyed the historical literature,  I just wish there was more to Jim's adventure and the awe-inspiring mythological revelation which I got used to knocking me off my mind from Ashwin Sanghi's book.


🌟Overall, a highly recommended read for all the mythology and history enthusiasts.
