RATING:
Storyline: 4.1/5

"The Nigerian Mafia Mumbai" by Onyeka Nwelue is an emotional rollercoaster that took me on a captivating journey. The novel introduces us to Uche Mbadiegwu, a Nollywood actor who ventures from Lagos to Mumbai in pursuit of his Bollywood dreams. What I loved most about this book was its ability to stir a multitude of feelings within me.

Nwelue's portrayal of Uche's aspirations and struggles is incredibly moving. I found myself cheering for this ambitious character and his quest to make a mark in the glitzy world of Bollywood. His determination and resilience are nothing short of inspiring.

The entry of Periwinkle into Uche's life adds a layer of mystery and intrigue that keeps the reader engaged. The emotional connections between the characters are vividly depicted, making it easy to become emotionally invested in their stories.

The book also sheds light on the challenges faced by Nigerians in Mumbai, showcasing a constant battle to evade Indian police and narcotics agents. This added an element of suspense and danger that kept me on the edge of my seat.

"The Nigerian Mafia Mumbai" explores dark themes, including violence, drugs, human trafficking, murder, and sex. Yet, these themes are woven into the characters' journeys in a way that makes the story emotionally charged and utterly engrossing. After finishing the book, I was left with a whirlwind of emotions, from empathy for the characters to a sense of wonder at the power of storytelling.

Overall, a highly recommended read which is a tribute to the resilience and tenacity of human beings when their survival instincts kick in.
