Book Review - War of Lanka by Amish

📗BOOK: War of Lanka
📗AUTHOR: Amish
📗GENRE: Mythological Thriller

🎯MY TAKE:

I felt that I am in no position to review War of Lanka for my deep rooted bias towards Amish and his books. Personally, Amish's books have brought a psychological and emotional connection with Hindu Gods which so far was restricted only to spiritual connection.

🌕War of Lanka has been one of the most anticipated reads for me and it has not disappointed me in terms of plot construction and inducing a unique flavour to the storyline which made the flow different keeping the context of Ramayana same. This has always been the USP of the author to humanize and bring the mythological characters closer to my heart.

🌕I would like to make special mentions of the the scenarios that make this book so emotionally beautiful, evocative and unconventionally different from the original Ramayana.

🌟Bharat and Shatrughan joined Ram and Laxman during the war of Lanka which seemed like a natural response of loving and emotionally close brothers who would stand shoulder to shoulder if any of them faces any difficulty in life. I loved how Amish has intellectually molded this into the storyline which makes it feel so real.

🌟I loved how Bharat has his individuality etched in this series. Generally, Bharat is referred as the regent in Ayodhya, always overshadowed by Ram. Amish has thoughtfully given Bharat a rebellious streak with dollops of intelligence which make him a wonderful contrast to Ram who is known for his unwavering stand towards 'Dharma'.

🌟Amish has tactfully brought Bharat and to a certain extent Shatrughan, out of the shadows and shared a message that both Bharat's political intelligence and Ram's penchant for rules and Dharma are equally important to rule a kingdom.

🌟I was bowled over by the respectful and admirable characterization accorded to Ravan and Kumbhakaran. These characters weren't unnecessarily villanized to make a hero out of the protagonist. As the King of Lanka and a devotee of Mahadev, the evilness and magnificence of Ravan were portrayed beautifully and in a just manner by the author.

Yes, it is missing the thrill and chemistry like the Shiva trilogy but we need to isolate the Ram Chandra series and understand the storyline through a contextual perspective.

📖As an ardent fan of Amish, I cannot wait for the 5th installment of the book!
