The Unproposed Guy Review - A hilarious take on 'Existential crisis' and 'love lost'

BOOK: The Unproposed Guy
AUTHOR: Bhavik Sarkhedi and Suhana Bhambhani
GENRE: Satirical Fiction

What happens when life gives you lemons? You either make a lemonade out of it or if you are in your sassiest element to prove yourself, you upgrade and make a Virgin Mojito out of it.

Kevin is person who has always found himself subjected to disappointment from his parents. Adding salt to the injury, Kevin keeps on adding the feathers of disappointment to his cap when the opposite sex refuses to see him as anything more than a friend.

He is on the verge of emotional downfall and 'existential crisis' when he got the brilliant idea to express himself through stand-up comedy. What better way to cope up with the monotony and the rejection than making a mockery out of it by adding humour and sarcasm!

VERDICT:
Pros:

1) The Unproposed Guy Book is a humour novel by Indian author who makes a thoughtful and good attempt in utilizing the potential of the comedy genre which is still sadly untapped in the Indian book market. This stand up comedy book can be a benchmark to introduce refreshing plots revolving around comedians with their sarcastic humour.

2) I like the character etched out of Kevin giving the vibes of a common 'rejected' man who knows how to lift up the spirits through humour and yet at the same time finding himself falling short of impressing the women-kind. Kevin's character is endearing, relatable and humorous.

3) I liked the way the authors have managed to narrate the cliched family emotions and sad rejections into quirky and satirical events. The funny takes different situations made this book dynamic and interesting read.

Cons:

I feel the plot could have been more concrete. I understand that this book narrates the character development of Kevin however the storyline could have been better.

Overall, this book was a nice, sadly hilarious, unorthodox and gave me different experience while reading.
